use lubricant sticks

Lubricant sticks are a mixture of wax and graphite in powder form, which make it possible, for example, to lubricate difficult to access riding rings on rotary kilns in cement works. Lubricant sticks are easy to apply and do not cause any contamination.

Where spraying liquid lubricant often does not achieve efficient lubrication, the lubricant sticks are distributed over the entire surface of the riding ring to be lubricated. The wax acts as a carrier material that melts at the riding rings’ high temperatures, spreads evenly over the entire surface and then evaporates or burns. The graphite is left behind as the actual lubricant.

Graphite is a natural, mineral and environmentally friendly lubricant that reduces friction and therefore wear and can significantly prolong the service life. This is why graphite is often used at lubrication points subject to high thermal loads. Lubrication should be carried out once or twice a week. Depending on the riding ring’s size, 8-12 lubricant sticks are distributed evenly around its circumference.

The following sizes are available depending on the riding ring’s width and temperature:

240 mm long 150 g

195 mm long 120 g

150 mm long   90 g

All sizes are approximate.

For safety reasons, the kiln speed should be reduced briefly during the lubrication process and protective clothing should be worn.
